Source of Grapes: Swartland, Western Cape, South Africa The fruit for our 2024 Chenin Blanc was sourced from unirrigated old bush vines growing in the Swartland region of the Western Cape of South Africa. Each site contributes a different flavour profile to the final blend as it grows on diverse soil types and slopes. Each vineyard is handled separately to capture its unique personality.
Winemaking: Each vineyard is harvested and vinified separately to ensure maximum complexity. All our fruit are hand-picked in the early morning and handled reductively to preserve the fruit's integrity. After destemming, a period of skin contact is allowed according to chemical analysis and phenolic and flavour ripeness. 3days of cold settling follow a light pressing to clarify the juice. A maximum of 600l/ton is recovered at this stage. Each vineyard is inoculated with a selected yeast to match its flavour profile. Fermentation lasts for 21-30 days at 13-16°C. 4 Months of full lees contact, with regular stirring, is allowed post-fermentation to add richness and texture to the wine. The components are then blended and stabilized before bottling.
Maturation: 4 months on its primary lees with batonage weekly. Fermentation and maturation in a combination of cement and Foudre
Tasting note: This is our third vintage of The Power of Love Chenin Blanc, and it’s a vibrant, lip-smacking one at that. It's fruit-driven and juicy, with refreshing aromas of guava, pineapple, and winter melon. The palate zings with citrus, white pear, quince, and lingering yellow peaches.
